ReStore Award to Allandale Decorating Centre

Larry Gottschalk and Sue Kay have been operating Allandale Decorating Centre for he past 15 years at their Yonge Street location and have been involved with the Barrie Restore for 11 of those years.

Larry Gottschalk and Sue Kay have been operating Allandale Decorating Centre for he past 15 years at their Yonge Street location and have been involved with the Barrie Restore for 11 of those years.
Larry was first introduced to the Restore by a then board member Theresa Habs. Theresa explained to Larry how and why the Restore Habitat for Humanity functions and Larry liked the idea of helping community. “At the time we had paint, you know mis-tints and left over paint form decorating jobs and some decorating items left over from a couple of other jobs, and rather then have them sit around and get in our way, we donated them to the Restore, that's how it started and we've been doing it ever since". Everyone needs to do their bit (recycle, reuse) and it seemed to be a perfect fit,” Larry states.
The Restore is a retail outlet that sells recycled and new building materials, hardware, and appliances to the public at bargain prices. Everything is donated and the profits go toward Habitat for Humanity’s homebuilding program restoring hope for low-income families. Restores also help reduce our environmental footprint by providing an opportunity to reuse materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill.
“Everyone deserves to love the space they're in, regardless of their economic situation. A person doesn’t have to spend a lot to have your space look great, and this is our way of helping out,” says Sue Kay partner at Allandale Decorating, in reference to their participation with the Restore.
"We've even shopped at the Restore,” states Sue "We needed a chandelier for my daughters room and I found one at the Restore for ... Are you ready ... $10 dollars. It looked great and the price was even better".
"We have enjoyed our partnership with the Restore, they supply a service by helping us with unwanted items and n turn the Restore is able to create cash flow for the much needed work of building more homes." comment Larry and Sue. 'As we said before ... A perfect fit".

Allandale Decorating Centre is located at 393 Yonge Street, at Little Avenue.
