Kitchens to Homes
This hands-on team goes to homes in various neighborhoods in the Simcoe County and New Tecumseth Area to carefully dismantle and remove entire kitchens, doors, fixtures, and major appliances from donors’ homes to sell in our ReStores. If you enjoy physical work, plumbing or have electrical knowledge or a willingness to learn — this could be for you. Fill Out Our Application.
We require our volunteers to:
- Willing to work in a team
- Comfortable working with tools
- Capable of lifting 25lbs
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time
- Able to work with 2-3 step instructions
- Must be available for during the week
- Be capable of volunteering for dates per month
- Deconstruction is a minimum of 4 hours
- Provide a criminal reference check
- Wear certified safety shoes
- Attend an orientation

Our Habitat homes are genuine community projects. Nearly all the construction is carried out by compassionate volunteers, backed by the committed and experienced staff of Habitat for Humanity Huronia.
Do you envision a world where everyone has access to safe and decent housing? Are you interested in contributing to home building?
No matter if you're a seasoned contractor or have never handled a hammer before, we welcome your help throughout the year.
Must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer and be able to provide your own transportation to the build.
Current build is in Stayner, Ontario.
ReStore Volunteer
Looking for a creative way to give back to your community? Looking for a work placement opportunity or to complete your student volunteer hours? Join our Barrie or Alliston ReStore and assist with jobs including assembling donated items, stocking and organizing shelves, customer service, assisting on truck deliveries/pick-ups, moving items for display, and more!
We require our volunteers to:
- Wear certified safety shoes
- Be capable of lifting 20lbs
- Comfortable standing for extended periods of time
- Able to work with 2 to 3 step instructions
- Attend a 1 hour orientation
- Complete 80 hours – Letter of Reference from the ReStore Manager
- The Volunteer form is fine.
work placements
A Work Placement with Habitat Huronia ReStore means we treat you like staff and it gives you something recent and unique to add to your resume. We schedule you for a minimum of two days a week (8 hour day) and after 80 hours we provide a letter of reference and you can add us to your resume as a work placement.
We have opportunities available to provide customer service, load and unload trucks, help on deliveries, and assist as a cashier. You must be available for two full shifts a week.

Co-op Placement
We offer exciting opportunities for recent graduates, students, and working professionals in our Marketing, Construction, ReStore, Fund Development, and Volunteer Services departments. A resume and a brief interview is required for most positions to assess suitability.
These positions are on a first come, first served basis as positions become available. We will only accept one student at a time.

Committee Volunteers
Our committee members contribute invaluable ideas, industry experience, and support to Habitat Huronia. Several current committees include Family Services, Land, Health and Safety, Build and Fundraising.
