Habitat for Humanity Huronia Expands Operations to Improve Service Offering
We are excited to announce that Habitat Huronia and Habitat South Georgian Bay have merged under the Habitat for Humanity Huronia name effective March 31st. The merger will allow for optimized operations, so that Habitat for Humanity can serve more families in need of safe and affordable housing in the communities of South Simcoe.
The newly merged organization will benefit from the experience and proven leadership of CEO Robert Cikoja and CFO Ann Adams who have led Habitat Huronia since 2019. Together they bring working knowledge of Habitat South Georgian Bay’s operations and the communities it serves, having worked as interim leaders since October 2023.
The assets of South Georgian Bay including its ReStore in Collingwood and its housing portfolio will be transferred to the newly expanded Habitat Huronia and the organization will continue to service the communities of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Clearview out of its present location at 155 Sandford Fleming Drive, Collingwood.
“The need for affordable housing is greater today than ever before”, says Habitat Huronia CEO Robert Cikoja. “We are eager to engage donors, volunteers and municipal leaders across South Simcoe to ensure that we can serve many more families with our expanded operations.”
Habitat Huronia currently has plans to complete a single-family home on Christopher Street, Stayner, and projected projects in Angus, Barrie, Innisfil and Blue Mountains.
The existing Habitat Huronia Board of Directors will govern the newly merged organization. Habitat Huronia is committed to ensuring it has board representation from across the communities it serves and already has representation from the South Georgian Bay community. The organization will be taking applications for any vacant positions on the Board in May.
